Clonmel World Music is delighted to once again present one of Irelands best up and coming Trad Fusion bands, The Wran

We had them play in Clonmel in May, and such was the reaction we had to have them back as part of their first full Irish tour!

Clonmel will be the first show on the Irish tour, following their very well received appearances at big UK Festivals this year –  at Glastonbury and at The Green Man festivals.

They also play all major Irish Festivals this year –  All Together Now, Electric Picnic, Vantastival, Ealu Le Gra, TuneFest, Fuinneamh, Greenbelt and Beautiful Days.

Emerging from the Comeragh Mountains of County Waterford, Ireland, Brothers—Tommy, Danny, Sean, and Stephen Dunford—form the heart of the brand-new trad fusion band THE WRAN.

Inspired by the likes of Moving hearts, Lankum, Planxty, and the Mary Wallopers, The Wran united to form their band, infusing traditional Irish tunes with contemporary folk nuances. Their sound is built upon banjo, acoustic guitar, accordion, electric guitar, bass and drums, (to name a few).

Their performances weave old folk tunes with original compositions, enchanting audiences with their authenticity and innovation. The band has only begun their journey, but their dynamic energy and musical prowess leave an enduring impact.

The show will take place in Bakers Bar, Parnell Street Clonmel on Thursday 18^th September.

The Wran were signed up straight away by one of the UK’s foremost Roots agency, Midnight Mango, having performed at Irelands Artist showcase “Your roots Are Showing” in January this year.

There’s something about hearing four brothers sing in harmony that cuts right to the bone. Their performances weave old folk tunes with original compositions, built upon banjo, acoustic guitar, accordion, harmonium, electric guitar, bass and drums.

The band has only begun their journey, but their dynamic energy and musical prowess leave an enduring impact.

Steeped in folklore and fury, The Wran won’t be Ireland’s best-kept secret for long.
